Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the "Decision on theSeventh Higher Education Facilities Outstanding Scientific Research AchievementAward (humanities and social sciences)" (Social Science Education [2015] No. 4), announcing the prize winners of the Seventh Higher EducationFacilities Outstanding Scientific Research Award (humanities and socialsciences). Professor Rong Xinfang, from College of Foreign Languages atShanghai Maritime University won a second prize of Foreign Literature Award withhis monograph "I.A. Richardsand Chinese Culture: Western-Eastern Cultural Dialogue and its impact".

Professor Rong Xinfang, an esteemed professor at SMU’s College of ForeignLanguages, earned his Doctor’s degree from Nanjing University and has studiedin the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries as visiting scholars. Forthe eight full years he has been working at SMU, Professor Rong Xinfang teachesundergraduate and graduate students, with average weekly teaching hours up to ten hours, and at least six graduate students under his tutelage every year. Apartfrom teaching, he also shares with young teachers his superb teaching skillsand experience to guide and encourage young teachers to improve their skillsand abilities, and often discusses research topics with them to with theirpapers. He is an outstanding teacher to his students, and a mentor to his youngfellow teachers.
