Speaker: Dr. Tan Huimin:

Dr. Tanreceived her doctorate from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, servesas a research fellow at Institute of Language and Information Science, CityUniversity of Hong Kong, and the Computer Sciences Department of Hong KongUniversity of Science and Technology. She has taught at Nanyang TechnologicalUniversity of Singapore and the National University of Singapore. Recently sheteaches at the College of Foreign Languages of Ningbo University. Her research and teaching covers modernChinese, modern Chinese language, sociolinguistics, translation history, theoryand practice of translation, etc., and she mentors PhD students in ChineseLinguistics and Translation Studies. She has published books such as "AComparative Study of Language and Translation", "Chinese Marches tothe World" and "Perspectives on Language," and co-authoredpapers such as ContrastiveLinguistics: History, Philosophy and Methodologypublisheddozens of papers in English.
