Dear all divisions of College ofForeign Language:
It is hereby announced, that in order to providebetter support for discipline construction of two secondary programs, namely MaritimeLanguage Application and Master of Translation and Interpretation, Collegeof Foreign Languages has decided, after deliberate consideration, to establishProcessing and Translation Research Center of Maritime-Specific Language andInformation, which will have an academic platform and social service internshipplatform as its inferior institutions. The aim of the establishment of thecenter is to take advantage of the two inferior platforms to gain a foundationof maritime-specific corpus and database, which can be better utilized by theabove two programs through teaching and research. What's more, the center canalso provide great opportunities of social service internship to teachers andpostgraduates of these programs, which will result in improvement on quality oftranslation-specific doctor and master postgraduates, and promotion of postgraduates'better service to the development of China's "Oceanic" strategy,which has quite a need for maritime-specific and shipping-specific high-endtalents.
